Million of women are dying their hair. Chemical dyeing can have toxic effects. Six years ago I went to the hairdresser and I left the place with my scalp and my hair really damaged. I decided to try natural plants instead of chemical hair colors.
How does it works?
Chemical dyeing contains toxic ingredients (amonia, peroxyde, PPD…) which change the hair structure while herbal dyeing coats the hair without changing anything. It binds with the hair strand and give a natural and long lasting result.
Herbal dyeing can’t bleach your hair but gives vibrant different colors according the plant dye powder used.
- cassia will be perfect for blond hair
- lawsonia inermis (Henna), rhubarb roots and beetroot for red to auburn
- indigo and walnut shell for chesnut and brown hair
- indigo for black hair
The colorist always mixes lawsonnia inermis (Henna) with these different ground herbs.
Blond hair are easy to cover as well as auburn hair. Getting dark and chesnut color is pretty hard so the colorist usually operates in two steps.
They are not totally covered (about 90%) but very shinny and blending with the natural color.
I want to keep my brown hair and cover maximum grey hair. My colorist operates first with henna to prepare the hair (45 minutes) and apply a mix of different indigos plus henna and wallnut shell ( 45 minutes) and here is the result.
You notice roots after one month and a half but they are less noticeable than with chemical dyeing. I wait around two months to do it again.
